Policy & Organizing
Building community power to advance justice and equity through grassroots organizing and policy change.
At Amigos de Guadalupe, we believe lasting change starts with the people most impacted by injustice. Our Policy and Organizing work centers immigrants, families, and residents of East San José to advance policies that protect dignity, strengthen families, and build community power.
Rooted in lived experience, our team of community members, organizers, and advocates works alongside residents to challenge harmful systems and create meaningful change. Through leadership development and grassroots organizing we build shared power and push for justice at the local and state levels.

What we do:
We organize, educate, and advocate to create systems-level change. Our work includes:
-
Community Organizing: Supporting residents to come together around shared issues, build leadership skills, and take collective action.
-
Policy Advocacy: Advocating for local, state, and federal policies that protect immigrant rights, expand access to services, and promote housing stability and economic justice.
-
Civic Engagement: Creating spaces for community members to engage with elected officials, participate in public meetings, and make their voices heard.
-
Coalition Building: Partnering with community-based organizations and advocacy networks to strengthen collective impact.
Our work is guided by the belief that those closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions.
